Porcelain Corset
I created this corset completely from scratch. It was a lengthy and complicated process (I’ve outlined the steps below), but I’m thrilled with the final result and wore it very proudly with my Black Gown to prom.
Step 1: Make custom corset pattern by wrapping myself in plastic wrap, then a layer of masking tape, then cutting it off myself and tracing it onto brown bag paper.
Steps 2-5: Cut pattern into 8 contoured pieces. Trace pieces onto thin foam sheets and thermoplastic sheets. Use heat gun to fuse pieces together into corset shape. Punch holes along both sides of the back seam for lacing.
Steps 6-11: Paint with 2 coats of acrylic paint. Add a layer of UV resin for a glossy porcelain finish. Use silicone molds and hot glue to make decorative filigrees. Paint the filigrees with Rub 'n' Buff gold powder. Use hot glue to add glass gems. Lace ribbon through the corset holes to tighten and secure the corset.
